Frequently Asked Questions

Do you develop colour-positive slide film (e.g. E-6)?

We do not process slide film at this stage, unfortunately. To identify whether your colour film can be processed by us, check if the canister has C-41 or CN-16 on the label. If it does, we can process it.

How long will it take for me to get the scans?

Our film processing is undertaken off-site, and we send the film there each

Monday morning (or the following business day if it is a public holiday). Please ensure your film is dropped off (or arrives via mail) by the Saturday prior, or it may not be processed until the following week.

We aim to have your film ready by the end of the same week we send it for development. This is an approximate timeframe, and this may take longer due to public holidays and other factors. You will be contacted by phone (or email, if you have requested digital scans) when your film is ready to collect.

How will I receive my digital scans?

We send out the digital scans of your film via a Google Drive link. This link will remain active for 2 weeks once sent, so please ensure you download your scans. Please note that we do not keep digital scans on our system indefinitely.

Can I pick up my negatives? Can I have them shipped back?

Absolutely! There is no cost to collect them from our store. We can post them back to you afterwards for $11 (urban) or $22 (rural). Please select the appropriate option at checkout.

How do I send my film to you?

Once you've placed an order, post your film to the following address:

Lazer Photos & Cameras

124 The Strand

Whakatane 3120

Please include your order number with your film. We recommend you use a tracked courier option for sending your film to us, as we do not take responsibility for any film that is lost, damaged, or delayed in transit to us.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Sometimes, film rolls may end up 'blank' (i.e. no photos turn out). This can be caused by a number of reasons, such as your camera not winding the film correctly or the shutter malfunctioning. In such an instance where a roll is completely blank, then we will issue a partial refund to you for those affected rolls, less the development cost.

On the rare occasion that your negatives are damaged or lost during transit back to you, we are only liable for the replacement value of the unexposed film – either by replacing with the same type of film or a similar equivalent. We are not responsible for any film that is lost or damaged in transit to us, so we recommend using a tracked courier service.
