Restoration & Retouching

Your history handled with care

Having been in the photo business for over 35 years, Lazer Photos & Cameras understands how important photographs are to you. They capture those special, once-in-a-lifetime moments, for you and your family to treasure for years. However, they can also be delicate, and easily damaged. We offer restoration and retouching services to help bring your photos back to their former glory.

Tears, Rips, & Damage

Old prints are delicate; unfortunately they can get rips, tears, or flake away. We can restore those missing bits to make your picture whole.

Our Process

Our restoration or retouching process starts with you bringing your item(s) into our store and having a chat with one of our friendly team members. They will inspect the item(s), discuss what you'd like to have done, what we can do, how long it will take, and provide you with a free, no-obligations quote.

When you're happy to proceed, our team will carefully take a high-resolution scan of your image(s). This may involve removing them from their frames. Once we obtain a good quality scan, our photoshop technicians use a suite of industry-leading tools to digitally repair and enhance your image(s). Our team may also ask you to come into the store to view samples to ensure we're on the right track (e.g. if we're colourising a black-and-white photograph).

Once completed, we can provide with you prints or digital files of the finished restorations, and return the original(s) to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you provide quotes over phone or via email?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide quotes without seeing the item(s) in person. Our team needs to be able to inspect them up-close (with magnification if necessary), as there may be subtle damage or defects that may only appear when scanned. You are welcome to email through images if you'd like a general enquiry about if specific work can be done.

How much will a restoration cost?

As every image is unique, we cannot give set pricing for restorations. Our team is more than happy to provide you with a free, no-obligations quote if you are interested in having your photo(s) restored.

Do you alter the original image?

Because we understand that your original photographs are one-offs, we do all of our work on the digital scans – we do not alter your originals. This way, you can order prints at a different size to your original photographs.

How long does it take to restore an image?

The time it will take to restore your photo(s) will vary, depending on the amount of work required, and other jobs we have in the queue. If you have a specific deadline in mind, bringing your photos in early will allow us the best chance of restoring your photos in time. We cannot offer same-day service for restorations.

My image(s) have gotten water damaged and have stuck to the glass in the frame. What should I do?

Please do not remove images from frames if they are stuck to the glass, or if they are glued in a photo album! Bring the frame or album in as-is; we can work around these issues without risking further damage to your image.
